ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

Since the year 2011, National Voters’ Day (NVD) is celebrated all across the country on January 25 to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process.
The Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage school and college students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them on their electoral rights and familiarise them with the electoral process of registration and voting. Through ELC, the Election Commission of India aims at strengthening the culture of electoral participation among young and future voters.
Election Commission of India celebrated the 13th National Voters’ Day on 25th January 2023. As part of the Electoral Literacy Club, the Education Committee of SNA of MCON organized the Essay writing competition on the 25th of January 2023 between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. The theme for the competition was “A Ballot is stronger than a Bullet”. A total of 9 students from different batches participated in the essay competition to express their thoughts in words. Mrs. Janet Prameela Dsouza and Mrs. Flavia Noronha, Education Committee Advisors, Ms. Ashley Sajan Valleena, Education Committee Chairperson Ms. Melin Mathew, Education Committee Secretary coordinated the activity.
