Certificate course on Microimplant Anchorage
The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in association with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education (CADE), MCODS, Mangalore successfully conducted the first Certificate Course on Microimplant anchorage on 14th and 15th October,2019. The resource person was Dr. Vijay Baswa, a world renowned clinician with several years of experience with IZC and Buccal shelf screws. He is also an alumnus of our college. The inaugural program was graced by Dr. Dilip Naik, Dean, MCODS, Mangalore,Dr. Ashita Uppoor,Associate Dean and all the department heads. The workshop was a blended program with an online lecture series which emphasized on the theoretical aspects of IZC and Buccal shelf screws. The workshop was conducted in the Department of Orthodontics, MCODS, Mangalore.The participants were restricted to twenty five,to facilitate individual attention and one on one discussions. The first day began with a comprehensive lecture and introduction, followed by detailed discussions on cases treated by the resource person.In the afternoon, the hands on session consisted of placement of screws on 3D printed models, under the expert guidance of Dr. Vijay Baswa. This was followed by a clinical demonstration of screw insertion by the resource person. The second day commenced with a lecture and discussion on the various clinical applications of IZC and Buccal shelf screws.This was followed by insertion of the screws in patients by Dr. Baswa.The workshop concluded with a valedictory function with certificates given to each participant. The workshop was highly appreciated and was a very good learning experience for all.
