August 08, 2020
Dr. Rajesh Kamath (Faculty, MHA Program, Department of Health Innovation, PSPH, MAHE, Manipal) made a Presentation at an E-Consortium organized by Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) on August 8, 2020. He presented his views on the vertical of public health and NGOs. The business world is changing rapidly, becoming ever more complex and requiring more sophisticated and innovative managers. However, times of great challenge and complexity are fertile ground for great transformation. Today’s healthcare leaders must find ways to convert obstacles into opportunities. Given the paucity of human resources for healthcare, SIHS conducted an Industry-Academia e- consortium of organizations within each vertical of the healthcare sector. The objective of the Consortium was to build an effective competency-based learning model, in developing teaching pedagogies with the right blend of didactic and practical ‘hands-on’ training and recommend reforms required to address the gaps in skilling, training and education as pertinent to address the manpower crunch in the concerned vertical, thus ‘HELPING US BRIDGE THE SKILL GAP BETWEEN INDUSTRY REQUIREMENT AND ACADEMIC DELIVERY’. A consensus on identifying the competencies would facilitate curriculum standardization. Such standardization would help in training and developing an industry-ready workforce. This was a meaningful exercise where the learning quotient of the students rises above just inculcating academic knowledge to the integration of attitudes, values, morals and skills for the greater good and could go a long way in strengthening the Indian Healthcare scenario.
