As India is a global player and Public Health Problems like Pandemics or Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) do not respect borders. There is a need for a Department that takes these wider determinants into account. Building on the work of the other departments and adding knowledge from outside institutions, this Department has an interdisciplinary approach to solve Public Health Problems.
The Centre for One Health and the Manipal Centre for Infectious Diseases (MACID) that are alloted to this department are good examples of this approach. Research has already started also in this Department like the Erasmus+ project Prevent-It on AMR. The Master of Social Work Programme is coordinated by this Department.
