Prasanna School of Public Health aspires to evolve as a focal point of multi-disciplinary research and education on “wellness”; which is gaining prominence in the recent years. Instituted in 2009, as Department of Public Health; PSPH emerged as a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education in December 2017 encompassing the Departments of Data Science, Health Information, Health Innovation, Health Policy and Global Health. Over the years, the institution has built a well-established network with public, private and governmental institutions both at the national and international levels.
Through its highly competent and accredited post-graduate programmes in Biostatistics, Data Science, Hospital Administration, Public Health and Social Work, the school aims to build a highly equipped workforce of professionals having a strong knowledge base and expertise in understanding, assessing, analyzing and evaluating the broad range of public health issues prevalent in the community which will enable them to plan and execute necessary interventions.
This will enable the institution to be a ”game-changer” in academia and research with a focus on translating evidence into policy decisions and to attain excellence and sustainability in public health by training next-generation public health leaders.
Prasanna School of Public Health offers multi-disciplinary programmes in toe with the needs of both the industry and academia. We offer six postgraduate programmes and four certificate courses for the academic year 2021-22.
Research is creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications. It involves the collection, organization, and analysis of information to increase our understanding of a topic or issue. Research is a logical and systematic search for new and useful information on a particular topic. Research is important both in scientific and nonscientific fields. At PSPH researchers work as a team to make significant contributions to interdisciplinary research and discussion. Faculty & Research officers at PSPH are involved in Research Publications and supervise Research Projects and work with team members to ensure that the project remains on schedule. They help determine the goals of the Research Project as well as research methods and other test parameters. Research officers might also review and analyze data during the course of the project.
With collaborations with several premier institutions across the globe, Prasanna School of Public Health offers opportunities for student and faculty exchange programs, collaborative research and other academic engagements.
